How to Search the Duval County Jail Roster
The official lookup tool for Duval County inmates is the JSO Inmate Information Search. It is run by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office under Sheriff T.K. Waters. The tool covers people booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility downtown, plus those housed at the Community Transition Center and the Montgomery Correctional Center. The Sheriff's Office inmate information page describes the search as a way to view both current and historical information about incarcerated and released inmates. Mugshots and charges show up in the result list.
Before you open the roster, gather what you know about the person. A booking number is the fastest path. A last name plus first name works for general lookup. A date range narrows recent bookings. The site uses a captcha to block automated scraping, so a human user must clear it before the search runs.
- Open inmatesearch.jaxsheriff.org and pass the captcha challenge.
- Pick a search mode: name, booking number, inmate number, or last initial.
- Type the value into the right field and submit.
- Scan the result list for the right person by booking photo or birth year.
- Open the profile to read charges, bond, and next court date.
- Use the Recent Bookings tab to view people booked in a recent time window.
- Use the Release Log tab to see people released in a recent time window.
- Call the jail line at (904) 630-5760 when the result is unclear.
The Sheriff's Office corrections page notes the Department of Corrections is dedicated to secure, humane, and corrective detention. A screenshot of the inmate search portal sits below.

The portal loads search controls inside a single-page app shell, so each search type has its own form layout once selected.
Note: Recent bookings may take a short time to post; call the jail information line if a person just came in.
Duval County Inmate Search Fields
The JSO inmate search is built around a small set of fields. Most users start with a name or a booking number. The app exposes more advanced fields through its built-in API functions, including recent bookings and the release log.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text | Optional | Use with last name to narrow results. |
| Last Name | Text | Usually needed | Primary key for name search. |
| Middle Name | Text | Optional | Helps when the last name is common. |
| Inmate Active | Checkbox | Optional | Splits current custody from historical. |
| Booking Number | Text | Optional | Most precise search; trim spaces before submitting. |

Duval County Jail Facilities
The Sheriff's Department of Corrections runs three facilities in Duval County. The downtown jail holds most pre-trial inmates. The other two facilities hold county sentenced inmates in different programs. Each facility has its own address, phone, and intake purpose.

Booking, Bond, and Release From Duval County Jail
Booking starts at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Property inventory, fingerprints, booking photo, medical screening, and cell assignment are all done before the inmate is held or released. Sheriff's Office staff complete intake processing and identification clearance as soon as possible. A first appearance hearing usually follows within a day.
Bond can be paid in two ways. Cash bond requires the full amount, paid at the jail public reception area. Accepted forms are cash, certified or cashier's check drawn on a local bank and subject to verification, or U.S. Postal Money Order made out to the Office of the Sheriff. Surety bond uses a bail bonding agency. The agency posts the bond on behalf of the person in custody.
Civil writ and attachment purge amounts can be set by a judge. Purge payments go to the Domestic Relations Department, Room 107 of the courthouse, during normal business hours. After-hours purge payments go to the jail. The same payment forms apply.
Once an inmate is cleared for release, staff process the release as quickly as possible. Release times vary by institution. The released inmates page covers how to confirm a release and how to set up notifications.
Duval County Inmate Visitation Schedule
The Sheriff's Office runs video visitation only. There is no in-person contact visitation. Visitors choose between a remote video visit from home and a free onsite video visit at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. The inmate starts the call after the visitor sets up an account.
| Type | Location / Provider | Cost | Scheduling | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remote video | GettingOut.com | $0.25 per minute | Visitor account plus ID approval; inmate initiates | Subject to suspension for rule breaks. |
| Onsite video | 500 E. Adams St., west side of PTDF | Free | Up to 14 days ahead; must schedule 24 hours ahead | One visitor per inmate per week; max two hours. |
The onsite Video Visitation Center uses the same entrance as First Appearance court. Same-day walk-ins are turned away. Visits cannot be recorded, live streamed, or rebroadcast. Three-way visits, multiple inmates on one call, and the use of another inmate's account are all banned. Suspensions range from seven days to one year, depending on the conduct.
Inmate workers cannot take visits during their assigned work hours. Juveniles cannot take visits during school hours. The Sheriff's inmate information page links to the visitation rules and the GettingOut signup.
Note: One person per inmate per week is the hard cap on onsite visits; pick the right week carefully.
Inmate Mail, Money, and Phone Rules
Personal inmate mail rules changed on October 1, 2024. All non-legal personal mail now goes to a scanning center in Maryland. Mail is scanned and uploaded into the inmate tablet system as a digital attachment. The inmate reads the digital copy on the tablet. The paper original is not delivered.
Personal mail address:
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office: Duval, FL
Inmate's Name, 10-digit booking number
P.O. Box 247
Phoenix, MD 21131
The Phoenix, Maryland address is the scanning center, not a Sheriff's Office location. Legal mail is not affected by this change and still goes to the facility that houses the inmate. Authorized magazine, newspaper, and paperback book deliveries also go to the facility address. Boxes are not accepted. Envelopes cannot be larger than 8.5 by 11 inches. Altered envelopes are turned away.
Approved mail items include personal letters, postcards, reading materials, and subscription periodicals in the inmate's name. Paperback books must be mailed directly from Amazon, Books-A-Million, or Barnes & Noble. Hardback books are banned. Inmates are limited to four periodicals and two paperbacks at a time. Photographs, computer-generated images, internet downloads, and items also sold through commissary are not allowed through the mail. Mail delivery issues are addressed by emailing info@TextBehind.com.
Money for the inmate trust account goes through Access Secure Deposits. Deposits can be made online at inmatedeposits.com or by phone at 1-866-345-1884, around the clock. Visa and Mastercard debit and credit are accepted. Kiosks in the lobbies of the jail, prison, and Community Transition Center accept cash deposits. Sheriff's Office staff will not accept cash, cashier's checks, or money orders for inmate account deposits. Phone account funding runs through offenderconnect.com or 1-877-650-4249.

The Sheriff's inmate information landing page bundles links to the search tool, the mail policy, and visitation rules in one spot.
Related Duval County Court and Inmate Records
An inmate booking ties into other Duval County record sets. The criminal case file lives with the Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts. Arrest reports are kept by the arresting agency. Active warrants are tracked by the Sheriff's Office and the Clerk's docket. Each record source answers a different question, and most cases need data from more than one of them. A name found on the jail roster usually shows up on the Clerk's criminal docket within a short time, with charge filings and a case number that ties the records together.
- Criminal records show charges, dispositions, and case history in court.
- Warrant records show active and outstanding warrants tied to a person.
- Released inmates covers how to confirm and track a release.
- Inmate population covers facility-level data and total intake.
- Court records hold the full case docket for the criminal matter.

The Sheriff's homepage carries the top-level link to inmate information, contact lines, and the corrections services menu.
How to Reach the Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff's Office runs separate phone lines for emergencies, general questions, and jail issues. The contact page lists every public line. The most useful one for inmate questions is the Jail/Inmate Information line.
- Emergency: 911
- Non-Emergency: (904) 630-0500
- General Information: (904) 630-7600
- Jail/Inmate Information: (904) 630-5760
The Sheriff's headquarters is at 501 East Bay Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202. Jail visits go to 500 East Adams Street. Sentenced inmate work programs and treatment programs run out of 451 Catherine Street and 4727 Lannie Road, depending on the assignment.
For questions about a specific booking, the jail line at (904) 630-5760 is the right starting point. For media or open-records questions, the Sheriff's Office public information staff handles inquiries through the main contact page. Records that involve a court file are routed back to the Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts. The Sheriff's Office, the Clerk, and the Fourth Judicial Circuit each hold a piece of the full criminal-case picture, so a thorough lookup uses all three sources together.
